ETHICS & SUSTAINABILITY

WHAT WE THINK IS IMPORTANT…

SPlabel.JPG
  1. Healthy, safe working conditions for our makers. Our workers are absolutely fairly paid and have lovely working conditions. It should be standard but unfortunately, this is a rarity in the fashion industry.

  2. Raw materials that meet our standards for sustainability. In particular, this means ensuring that no harmful chemicals and pesticides are used in the construction of fabrics, which means they are safer for the planet, the people who make them, and the final consumer. Read more about the story behind our fabric selection in the Sunday Projects journal.

  3. Simple designs that do not change season to season, but will become a classic piece that you love and wear forever. In lieu of ‘fashion collections,’ we stock small batches of classic items, which results in less waste. We believe in the slow fashion movement, only use high quality materials and take care in production to ensure our products will last a long time.

  4. Supporting local businesses (as much as is possible). This not only ensures higher quality and a lower carbon footprint, but also means we are helping small kiwi businesses and the people who put their heart and soul into them.

  5. Minimizing waste by recycling offcuts into new designs and choosing ‘one size fits all’ when we can so that our cutting is as efficient as it can be. This also means you can share things with your friends and family of all different ages, shapes and sizes.

For more information on sustainability, especially the choice of our materials and manufacturers, please have a look at our journal.

We are always striving to improve, so if you hear of any innovative practices or businesses (especially organic and ethical textile suppliers), please contact us here.
